11/12/07: News of the World goes mobile with Mobile IQ
News of the World (NotW) has launched a dedicated mobile site built using Fabric™ from Mobile IQ. The site, delivered in association with mobile media agency Blue Star Mobile, provides readers with on-the-go access to NotW's exclusive news, showbiz and sport content as well as delivering mobile-exclusive downloads, including videos and ringtones.
NotW are now able to break their Sunday edition to mobile users by broadcasting their 'top five news' exclusives on a Saturday night.
Use of Fabric™ ensured a rapid turnaround of this site which is ad-funded using Nokia Ad Business, formerly Enpocket, and available as both a direct to consumer and operator service. Features such as Mobile IQ's video encoding solution, which automatically generates mobile-compatible videos, have also allowed delivering content to mobile to become part of NotW's core editorial process.
The launch of NotW Mobile is in line with the policy of News Group Newspapers to broadcast news on the most-used platforms, with their research showing that an estimated 90% of readers are able to access the site via mobile.
NotW continue to work with Blue Star and Mobile IQ to offer further content and functionality enhancements to their audience.
